Install

Start with a prompt that asks an agent to review the GitHub repository and source. Switch to the command if you want to install it yourself.

Copy this prompt into DSH, Codex, or another agent and ask it to review the GitHub repository and source first.

Do not install or run any commands yet. Read this plugin's GitHub repository, README, and relevant source code. Then answer the questions below clearly and directly so I can decide whether it fits my needs:

1. What is this plugin, and what problem does it solve?
2. Who is it for, and what are its typical use cases?
3. How is it used after installation? Include one minimal example.
4. What known limitations or privacy, security, compatibility, or maintenance risks does it have?
5. Give a clear recommendation: recommend, conditionally recommend, or do not recommend, with reasons.

Distinguish statements documented by the repository, inferences from source code, and unknowns. If evidence is insufficient, say so explicitly. Do not guess or simply repeat the README.

dsh-ui-notify

Completion sound notifications for the DeepSeek Harness web GUI. When a session's output finishes, the plugin plays an embedded chime; the Notifications row in Settings → General turns it on or off, picks a sound (with preview), sets the volume, and chooses whether to ring for background sessions only or every session.

Settings persist in browser localStorage. The plugin is a pure web plugin — it registers no host service, no tool, and no session-log entry.

Install

The package is published to the npm registry. Install it into the web profile:

dsh plugin --profile web add dsh-ui-notify

Then restart the profile (dsh --profile web) so the new package metadata is picked up. No build step is needed — the published tarball ships the built lib/ (node half + browser client bundle + type declarations).

To update to a newer release:

dsh plugin --profile web up dsh-ui-notify

Configuration

All settings live under the Notifications row (General settings), stored in localStorage under dsh-ui-notify.settings:

FieldValuesDefault
Enable reminderson / offon
SoundNone, Chime 1–3Chime 1
Volume0–100%50%
Remind whenBackground session finishes / Any session finishesBackground

The first user gesture unlocks the audio (browser autoplay policy); a completion that rang before unlock is queued and played on the next gesture.

Development

pnpm install
pnpm run typecheck
pnpm run test
pnpm run build

pnpm run build runs the two-project TypeScript build (node half + browser half) then bundles lib/client.js with tsdown. pnpm run prepare is the self-contained consumer build: it transpiles both halves from source without the type-checked peer graph, for installs that build from source rather than the npm tarball.
